Wednesday, August 20 – Thursday, August 21: In the West, sunny skies and seasonably warm temperatures will enhance ozone formation. These conditions, combined with pollutant carryover from previous days, will lead to widespread Code Yellow: MODERATE Air Quality levels in the West, with some areas in southern California and Colorado reaching Code Orange: UNHEALTHY for Sensitive Groups Air Quality levels.

In the East, sunny skies and hot temperatures will promote ozone formation, resulting in Code Yellow: MODERATE Air Quality levels over much of the region, with some areas within Tennessee, North and South Carolina, and Indiana reaching Code Orange: UNHEALTHY for Sensitive Groups Air Quality levels.
