How can I reduce air pollution?

Here are some easy ways you can help reduce air pollution.

1. Purchase energy efficient appliances, like compact flourescent lightbulbs.

By using more efficient products, you can lower your monthly electric bill and help prevent air pollution. For instance, from 10 to 13 percent of the average home's electricity costs can be saved at the flip of a light switch. Use compact fluorescent bulbs - they're cheaper and brighter than incandescent bulbs.

2. Drive less.

Exhaust from cars contributes significantly to air pollution. Using public transportation, carpooling, bicycling or walking whenever possible can help reduce air pollution.

3. Vote for energy efficiency, conservation and clean air.

By voting, you can support many environmental programs, including energy efficiency and energy conservation, which both help maintain clean air. Vote for candidates that promote proactive policies that address these environmental issues. Also, communicate with your elected representatives to register your opinion. 4. Write letters and make your voice heard.
